Social media lessons from the front line: learning about corporate change from the Arab Spring

How do you use social media to create a new culture and introduce a new communication dynamic? How do you integrate an online dimension into your communication strategy that will make a real difference and build momentum for change?  

Silvia Cambié will provide hands-on case studies and stories of how to use new digital engagement techniques at strategic level.  This will include experiences working with, amongst others, UniCredit, the European Training Foundation and the Tunisian Ministry of Employment.  Silvia has been studying the social media landscape that led to the revolutions in North Africa.  She has been working with social networkers in different parts of the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, and has applied some of their lessons to her work in internal and external communication.

About Silvia Cambié

Based in London, Silvia Cambié consults with international organizations and corporations on strategic communication and social media. She has designed communication campaigns for the European Investment Bank, the European Commission, UniCredit Group, the Chilean Economic Development Agency, the UNDP and the WHO.

Silvia is a recognized authority and has lectured at the Sorbonne University (Paris), London Metropolitan University and San Sebastian University (Santiago). She is the only woman to have presented at the Arab Social Media Forum in 2011 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Silvia is the author of “International Communications Strategy” nominated for the FT Goldman Sachs Awards 2009. She has won IABC’s 2011 Gold Quill Award and EMErald Award for the social media campaign she developed for the European Training Foundation, an EU agency.
